Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the motives that urge General Secondary Certificate to join vocational and technical colleges in Gaza Governorates and to define the ranks of those motives. It also aimed at finding any significant differences between those motives due to sex, college, qualification, and General Secondary Certificate GPA. The population of the study consisted of students attending three technical colleges in Gaza in the academic year (2002/2003). The questionnaire was applied on random sample of (110) students from the three vocational and technical colleges. The data was analyzed through calculating data means, standard deviations, ranks, and One – Way ANOVA. The findings showed that the psychological motive occupied the first rank, while the weakest rank motive was the source of information given to students by the secondary school, the college, the media, and the family. The findings also showed that there are significant differences in the motives of students for joining vocational and technical colleges due to the independent variables.
